Been gone too long but I’m at my desk and ready to write.  And show lots of pics.  Chef greeted my return with last year’s totals -- the Boatyard sold 57,000 Maryland crab cakes last year.  Whew!  And now we are on FoodyDirect's amazing national platform.  Look them up and see our world-famous Maryland crab cakes, Maryland crab and cream of crab soups and our amazing crab dip thru their national site. We are proud to be partnering with FoodyDirect and shipping our crab cakes online!

Did I mention $10 off your first order??

Our 17th Annual Boatyard Bar & Grill Catch and Release Fishing Tournament was again a great success in April.  As usual, an awesome crowd!  Featured is the winner Jimmy Moreland with Title Sponsor, Anglers Sport Center owner Charlie Ebersberger.   Catch all the results on the Boatyard website.    Thanks to all sponsors, fishermen/women and party attendees.  It’s the first official start of spring on the Bay.

Proceeds go to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Coastal Conservation Association Maryland and the Annapolis Youth Fishing Camp.

And two weeks ago, we held our 12th Chesapeake Bay Foundation Bands in the Sand Bands. 1,700 people on Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s beautiful beach at the Merrill Center.  What a glorious night it was.  Los Lobos was our featured national act, winner of 5 Grammy awards.  Again thanks to all sponsors and attendees.  The mosh pit at the end of the evening with Misspent Youth rocking out.

Late March in Eastport (brrrrr) and the Sock Burning Party at the Annapolis Maritime Museum is this Saturday.  We had a warm-up last night here at the Boatyard with the Eastport Oyster Boys and some of their Irish friends entertaining the crowd at our “Eastport Irish Up the Republic (We like it this way!) Night.”  Friday for St Paddy’s Day we bring back legendary bartender Jeff Macguire for what we call Macguire’s Irish Pub.  We rename the Boatyard for the day (yes, Kevin gets on the roof to cover the sign up with a Maguire sign!) and have Chef George’s amazing Irish fare, special Maguire pint glasses and great entertainment.

Our Travel Channel show aired about three weeks ago.  Chef George was a total star.  Travel Channel Food Paradise Super Sandwiches - it will keep airing over time.  Watch the segment, click here.   Pretty cool for Annapolis and the Boatyard!

Busy Fall at the Boatyard and Eastport.  The Boatyard Beach Bash at and for the Annapolis Maritime Museum was a sell out success on Sat. Sept 17th and a record amount of money was raised to support their educational programs.  As you may recall it’s our Parrotthead event with members of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band joining other singer-songwriters from Florida and Nashville.  This year’s line-up included Coral Reefers Peter Mayer and Doyle Grisham joining John Frinzi, Scott Kirby, Jim White, Aaron Schertz and Peter’s son Brendan Mayer.  JB’s close friend songwriter/author Tom Corcoran and Radio Margaritaville DeeJay J.D. Spradlin were also here to hold court.

Did we pass along that we are now shipping overnight our Maryland's Best Crab Cakes across the country?  What a great gift for your Uncle Louie’s birthday.  Go to our website to order the Boatyard's all-killer, no filler crab cakes online!

We are all ready for the Boatyard Regatta today.  Weather looks great.  Big after party at EYC with Misspent Youth.  If you can’t sail come to the party - $10 donation at the door.  We hold it to benefit C.R.A.B. – Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating –which gets those with disabilities out sailing.  Thanks to Mount Gay Rum for their very special red hats, Heineken for the shirts and financial support, SpinSheet Mag,  Annapolis Volvo, North Sails---and all of our other generous supporters.

The Boatyard participated in the Governor’s Cookout promoting locally produced food purveyors and restaurants/caterers.  We partnered with Patrick Mahoney of Wild Country Seafood serving up their soft crabs for soft crab BLTs.  Amazing  -I think the most popular item there.  Here are some shots of Governor Hogan, Chef George, Patrick, Georgie, me and our great team.  Fun time.  Hope we can do it again.

Well our 11th Bands In The Sand for and at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation is in the books.   What an evening it was!  1,650 on the beach on a beautiful evening watching The Wailers (Bob Marley’s old group), Misspent Youth and Mad Planet.  The event sells out in days now and we are so pleased it has become an important part of the area’s zeitgeist and life style.  Thanks to our sponsors, Committed to the Bay Committee Members, co-chairs and attendees.  Besides making a lot of friends for the Bay the evening raises over $250,000 net of expenses for the great work of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
