It's Feb. and I haven’t written since Nov 1. Why? because it’s winter in Annapolis and after the regattas, fishing tournaments, Navy football games, boat shows, outdoor beach parties and the holidays, things slow down a lot. View from my house....does it look slow or what? Wait, not totally dead!!

Back by popular demand and sponsored by Chesapeake Bay Magazine and CCA Maryland, Angler Nights return to the Boatyard Bar & Grill! Swapping tales of fish fought, dynamic escapes and monumental catches, anglers and friends parlay up on the last Tuesday in January, February and March for good grog and grub with an entertaining movie. Each passing year those fish stories take on Moby Dick proportions and keep the staff smiling for weeks!
January 29 - Back Bay
An award-winning short film about the legendary Back Bay bass fishing inside the Outer Banks of Virginia and the efforts to recover the glory days. Features Cory Routh, Lefty Kreh, Walt Cary........

September and lots to write to you about..............
Before Fin and the Sailer girls head off to school we got them to WRNR to do a radio ad. They have done so about 8 or 9 years now. Fin, Morgan and Lilly Sailer at the station. Of course Eastport Pirate Tom Weaver is the voice of the Boatyard and Tom with WRNR producer/DJ Rob do an amazing job.
The third of our big outdoor charity events was mid-August - the Boatyard CRAB Cup to benefit CRAB - Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating for those of all ages with disabilities including wounded warriors. This regatta was followed up later that week with the CRAB Annapolis Police Dept Youth Sailing Camp for at risk kids. What a great group!! G and me with Title Sponsor Annapolis Volvo’s Michelle Eichorn at the afterparty featuring Misspent Youth - amazing band. Thank you, Michelle!!! And of course, Mt. Gay Rum and Red Stripe Beer among others. Me posing with our Boatyard team, GM Kevin and servers Gabby and Michael. Our Captain and crew on Juice, very respectable showing less than a minute behind the other Alerion that races in every regatta. Good going Dave. Enjoy the pictures, more on our site Boatyard Bar & Grill gallery.

Hello from the Boatyard!! It’s July and we are in the thick of summer and loving it. In the “land of pleasant living” as they used to say on the Natty Boh jingle-in the 70s. Where have all the years (flowers) gone? Yikes! The Boatyard is cranking and it’s great to be full every day. We appreciate your patronage and are working hard to continue to deserve it. 77,000 crab cakes sold last year. It’s a high bar but you’re helping us beat it. And you’re shipping those crab cakes online nationwide to your Uncle Louie in Omaha and as corporate gifts to your important clients in Sacramento. Thanks!
Our second big event, Bands In the Sand at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s beautiful Merrill Center, in mid-June was an amazing success. Best ever. Sold out in a week or so. Great bands, food, drinks, weather, sponsors, guests, boats, etc. Thank you! We raised record setting funds for CBF to do their great work to Save the Bay, and you know by now that the Bay is getting so much better!! Thank you CBF- its staff, supporters, and those with the political will to help us leave a better Bay for our kids.

One down and three to go--- the Boatyard outdoor charity events that is. Our Opening Day Spring Fishing Tournament (Catch and Release) was held on Sat April 21. It benefits the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Coastal Conservation Association MD and the Annapolis Police Department Youth Fishing Camp. It was a tough day for the large number of boats (131!) fishing wise (why? water too cold? fish still up the Bay and rivers spawning? Every fisherperson has a strongly felt opinion!). So, cool this year that second place was won by a woman (Sara Brown) and third place was won by a youth (Will Muscatello). First place was Rich Vigue at 42.25 inches caught jigging at the Power Plant. The awards party was huge and fun and the tough day fishing was quickly forgotten. Over 1,000 here at the Boatyard eating Chefs George’s great food, music by the Jess McQuay Band and a more than a few adult beverages. Thanks to Anglers Sports Center (Charlie and Jane Ebersberger), our presenting sponsor for all 17 years of the tournament and all of the other sponsors, captains and crews, our volunteers from CBF and my Boatyard team that does a remarkable job. 17 years-- Yikes!!! Click here for tournament results and photos, and click here for FishTalk party coverage.
Deer in our yard in Eastport. We assumed they swam over from Bay Ridge and were tired so just laid there resting and eating all our spring plants.
Our esteemed full moon expert explained that there are 2 months this year with 2 full moons each (an occurence also known as a blue moon). Apparently, when there are 2, they're both named the same and hence, we have another Worm Moon! As long as it's Spring, bring it on.
Drink specials, dancing and howling encouraged - come on down!
It is with a sad heart that we say farewell to a marvelous man and a dear friend - we are honored for the opportunity to celebrate his remarkable life. Please join us at the final Angler Night to toast Lefty by sharing classic movie clips, a moving Tom Brokaw tribute and an episode or two of Buccaneers & Bones.
Join us in Lefty's salute, presented by Chesapeake Bay Magazine and CCA MD at the Boatyard.

As the luck o' the Irish would have it, the legendary Jeff Maguire once again reprises his traditional role as barkeep and owner for the day from noon to 8:00pm, Chef George O'Betz transforms the daily specials to feature delicious Irish dishes and the bar pumps beer into commemorative holiday glasses while they last. Live music with Jess McQuay band from 4-7pm.
Heads or Tails takes us along isolated beaches of Western Australia where permit do things differently! Follow two local fly anglers as they run after schools of permit, cast to fish over shallow, wave-pounded reef flats and watch this wild fish smash floating crab-flies with reckless abandon.
Join the Boatyard, Chesapeake Bay Magazine and CCA MD and fellow mates on this latest fish adventure.

Whether the fish are evasive or biting like mad, whether the weather is perfect or white-cap rough, anglers and guests alike agree - participating in the Boatyard's Annual Spring Tournament is really a lot of FUN, and we hope you will think so too! Generous prizes await the lucky winners.
In line with the Boatyard's commitment to a healthy Chesapeake Bay, this is a charity event with proceeds going to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Coastal Conservation Association Maryland and the Annapolis Police Department Youth Fishing Camp.
